    viewed as a first approach of baroque garden design to the kind of landscape park developed in England 1756 1763 The Prussian queen lodges multiple times in the Hundisburg during the Seven Years War 1796 1802 Philipp Carl von Alvensleben enforces extensive overhauls and reconstruction of the castle and the garden 19th Century 1810 1811 The merchant and Magdeburg native Johann Gottlob Nathusius acquired the secularised monastery Althaldensleben and a year later the castle Hundisburg 1810 1893 Johann Gottlob Nathusius begins with the creation of landscape parks in Althaldensleben Hundisburg and Glüsig Further a tree nursery is being generated The nursery is being run from 1825 to 1890 and becomes one of the biggest in Germany The facilities in Hundisburg and Althaldensleben are being expanded and redesigned by Nathusius sons By the end of the 19th century one large cohesive park has emerged 1824 Carl Leberecht Immermann visits Althaldensleben and Hundisburg and processes his impressions in his novel Die Epigonen 1839 Bettine von Armin visits her pen friend Philipp von Nathusius in Althaldensleben 1843 Following his suspension in Wroclaw and the banishment from his homeland Fallersleben August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben receives a warm welcome from Philipp von Nathusius in Althaldensleben 1893 Sale of Althaldensleben to Carl von Dippe 20th Century 1915 Gottlob von Nathusius und Carl Hans Ferdinand von Mackensen take over the property in Hundisburg und Althaldensleben Gottlob von Nathusius is dispossessed in 1945 Due to the depression von Mackensen is forced to give up in 1932 whereupon Althaldensleben is attained by the family Henkel Genthin until the dispossession in 1945 1920 1937 The art historian Udo von Alvensleben visits and explores Hundisburg His friend the Dutch painter Anco Wigboldus draws from 1930 onwards a series of projections and bird s eye views in the style of the old masters which become the starting point of an extensive and regarding the 20th century unique oeuvre 1945 A devastating fire occurs during a billeting of Soviet troops on the 28th November Two thirds of the main building of the castle are destroyed 1947 The magistrate of Haldensleben strives to have the Althaldensleber Park designated as conservation area 1949 1989 Hundisburg is run as common property Althaldensleben is subject to the land reform whereupon parts of the park become a real estate under the legal control of the town of Haldensleben These are displayed as protected park in 1953 The monastery is employed as a vocational school All mentioned are listed under preservation order by 1975 Nonetheless the dilapidation of the castle progresses virtually unhindered A first attempt in 1963 to rebuild the castle does not change this 1990 1995 A productive time of change begins with the reunification of Germany The rebuilding of the castle and the reconstruction of the baroque garden are initiated and end 1995 with the taking possession of castle and garden Hundisburg by the town of Haldensleben 1993 The first Summer Academy of Music is launched at the association KULTUR Landschaft Haldensleben Hundisburg e V

    house and the KULTUR Landschaft Haldensleben Hundisburg e V Heinrich Apel Go to top The collection consists mainly of the works of the well known artist and Magdeburg native Heinrich Apel born 1935 and is complemented by several pieces of his teachers who were inspired by Bauhaus and represent the Hallesche Schule e g Gustav Weidanz or Gerhard Marcks These additions are medals small and large scale sculptures drapery collages pictures and oils Heinrich Apel gave this collection to the town of Haldensleben in 2000 to permanently exhibit it at the castle Hundisburg Works linked to the construction are also in Berlin Dresden Magdeburg Halle Frankfurt Oder Bernburg Salzwedel Egeln Naumburg Worms and Klostermansfeld Friedrich Loock Go to top Friedrich Loock was born in Haldensleben on 2nd May 1795 As a royal building surveyor he directed inter alia the restoration of the cathedral in Erfurt and became wealthy through advantageous acquisition of land He retired young and acted as an art collector from then His sister consigned the collection encompassing 80 oil paintings and 122 engravings to the town of Haldensleben A big part of the Loock collection was transferred to the museum s stock in 1939 In 2001 41 paintings were once again displayed in the castle These are paintings of famous and also unknown artists who created the works from the 17th to the 19th century Thematically assorted into groups they define one of the historic rooms of the castle nowadays Anco Wigboldus Go to top Since 2006 the remains of the Dutch painter Anco Wigboldus 1900 1983 officially belong to the association KULTUR Landschaft Haldensleben Hundisburg The close cooperation and joint studies of Anco Wigboldus and Udo von Alvensleben which started in 1930 constitute the initiation for the reconstruction of the castle and the baroque garden Oil

    during the 19th and the early 20th century as well as a fatal fire in the castle in 1945 the majestic construction was not fully destroyed Since 1991 the castle is being gradually restored and preferentially employed for cultural events The baroque garden Synced with the castle the baroque garden was created from 1699 on and has as one of the oldest classic French gardens in Germany a high art historical standing Here time has neither gone by without leaving a mark Horticultural remodelling during the 19th and 20th century was followed by uses totally diverting from the initial intentions e g as a football ground until 1991 Since then the complex has been fully reconstructed Additionally the garden has become the home of a collection of fruit as a focal point housing historic kinds of fruit of the Altmark and the northern Boerde of Magdeburg The country park The merchant Johann Gottlob Nathusius acquired the secularised monastery Althaldensleben in the year 1810 and in 1811 the castle Hundisburg Due to his affection to plants and gardens he founded a tree nursery and took up the forming of the country park which sizes up to almost 271 acres between the
